American Aztecs

Archaeological Discovery Ventures has been researching the existence of an Aztec Temple right here in the United States. Legends and folklore support such a find, as do numerous Wild West Stories of gold and fortunes and lives lost. Extensive research from Mexico into the Southwestern US has produced some fairly extensive detail about the actual existence of such a temple. Stories of the Aztecs carrying enough gold to fill a 12x12x12 foot room from Mexico into Utah pursued by Spanish conquerors - the gold was never found.

ADVL's Founder, Dr. Victor Benilous, and his team have spent the better part of a decade researching the various stories - both written and passed down in oral traditions, and noticed some very specific overlapping details along the way. He first started considering the story during the original recovery of the Cortes Shipwreck. Although in the midst of the recovery, he took time to go to the Southwest to meet with some local historians about the folklore. Perhaps by chance, more likely by destiny, he was introduced to the last living relative of one of the originators of the predominate story. During their initial meeting, the historian told Dr. Benilous about the only book ever written that had anything close to the true story. While innumerable books have been written on the subject over the centuries, most were written by those who had searched, but never found anything.

Of course, many of these texts were purposely misleading, only complicating the matter further. The historian explained that finding the long out-of-print book was nearly impossible as every copy of it in every library in the US had actually been stolen. Our own research also showed this to be true. While waiting for the historian to return to their meeting to complete some aerial flights of some of the suspected areas, Dr. Benilous, again - by chance or destiny - stumbled across a real estate agent with a copy of the book, which he promptly purchased for the outrageous sum of $100. Upon the historian's return, he was shocked to find Dr. Benilous already in possession of his next clue. A series of obscure riddles is said to hold the secret to finding the treasure. The teller had said that unless the individual were standing amongst them, they could see each of the landmarks individually and never even realize that he was in their presence. Once the location was discovered, the landmarks would become instantly obvious.

The historian's accounts coupled with the book and the team's own exhaustive archival research in Mexico, the Southwest, and even in Spain, led them to narrow down their search area to a desolate expanse of uninhabited desert. Armed with their research, numerous cameras, some climbing gear, and determination, the team located several signs along their chosen trail. Repeated hikes and forays into the torturous terrain finally yielded results a number of years later. They were able to actually find a valley that matched a map they had found in the Spanish Archives in Seville that dated back to the original Catholic Missionary settlements of the Old West when it was still part of Mexico.

Thanks to their research and determination, the team located the entrance to actual Aztec Temple. Incredibly hidden in the midst of some of the rockiest possible terrain, there exists a massive carved stone entrance likened to the pyramids of Chichen Itza and Tulum, complete with traditional Aztec and Mayan symbols. Unfortunately, the entrance had been obscured by a wall collapse, so they have not yet ventured into the temple. Incredibly, all of the telltale landmarks from the original history are within close proximity of the ancient temple itself and are, indeed, obvious once you're standing in their midst. While reviewing the extensive photographs taken during their last expedition, the team noticed that someone had actually taken a photo of the prime landmark without even realizing it. Upon their next trip, they plan to locate this landmark, which is said to be the source of a vein of gold once mined by the Catholic Priests using Native American Slaves for labor. We expect gold from this easily-reached vein to return enough funds to finance the complete recovery of any and all artifacts in the temple while preserving them and their previously untold history.

The ADVL team plans to return to the site when the seasons are right to explore the area once again. They will be bringing along a documentary film crew to capture the incredible unveiling of the temple for all the world to see - perhaps by live simulcast. The resulting treasure will be kept intact and will be displayed locally - giving back to the local economy that has endured countless murders, losses of life, and destruction as treasure hunters have scoured the countryside in search of the famed treasure. The resulting exhibit ticket proceeds will not only generate funds for future ADVL operations, but also will fund the ongoing operations of the exhibit itself, creating jobs and tourism for the city, county, and the state.

Certain to be a national treasure, none of the artifacts will be sold or disbursed. We anticipate eventually having a traveling exhibit along the lines of the Titanic Exhibit or the King Tut Exhibit, both of which generate tens of millions of dollars in revenue.
